Specific Issue Polygraph Test:
This type of polygraph test is used when there is a clearly defined incident that is being investigated. The test helps to establish whether the examinee should be considered as a possible suspect in the ongoing investigation of the matter.
This type of test is usually used to investigate theft, fraud, armed robbery, murder etc. The test questions focus on the single issue which is being investigated.
Issue specific testing is the most accurate of all polygraph testing techniques with accuracy ratings in the region of 95%. When this test is combined with our EyeDetect test the accuracy of the test results rises to 99%. We are premier service providers for EyeDetect in South Africa.
We utilise well known American Polygraph Association accredited testing techniques to ensure the highest level of accuracy and validity. The test results obtained from this type of test are often used to corroborate other evidence and the results can be presented at a disciplinary enquiry or at the CCCMA. (See our Polygraph Polygraph at the CCMA page for more detail.)
We conduct all polygraph testing in strict accordance with American Polygraph Association standards.
We are members of the Southern African Polygraph Federation (SAPFED). As members of the association we follow strict ethical and professional standards. All testing is carried out according the guidelines laid out by the association.
Pre-Employment Polygraph Test:
This type of test is administered to prospective employees. The test questions are structured to ask about a number of issues such as previous involvement in theft from employers, undisclosed drug use, commission of serious crimes and falsification of employment application documentation.
This testing helps the employer identify those candidates that are concealing adverse information regarding their background. In South Africa there is a very high rate of forgery of educational qualifications and other certifications. Pre-employment testing helps to uncover such forgeries.
This test is a cost effective way for businesses to screen candidates on a number of issues simulataneously without having to the resort to separate checking of criminal history and validity of qualifications.
A pre-employment test is used by many of our clients in a “successive hurdle model” to ensure that only those candidates with the highest integrity are employed by the business. The candidates first undergo a pre-employment test before they continue with other pre employment checks and interviews that are ordinarily carried out by the business.
Pre employment polygraph tests are a cost saving exercise for businesses. By using this polygraph test at the beginning of the employment process the business avoids costly disciplinary and investigative costs later on.
Screening Polygraph Test:
This type of test is administered to existing employees who work in high risk environments within the business where they have access to high value goods, for example. This type of test can focus on a single issue such as involvement in theft from the business, or it can be expanded to include drug use and commission of other crimes.
Periodic testing of employees helps to maintain a high level of integrity amongst staff. Periodic polygraph examinations quickly identify theft and other offences that are being committed by staff members, before such crimes escalate and cause the business more significant damages or losses.
Businesses that implement regular testing of staff have significantly lower rates of stock theft and other offences, and this translates to better profit and a more efficient working environment.
Regular screening of staff members creates an ethical atmoshphere in the workplace. Staff members who know they will undergo a yearly or twice-yearly polygraph test are much less likely to commit theft, fraud or other offences. This saves the business money. The cost of this type of testsing yields a very high return on investment for our clients.
